Comedian Russell Kane appears on the last episode of series nine of the award-winning podcast Fuelling Around.
Kane, who has been a regular on our TV screens and the stage for over two decades, has forged a successful comedy career but he’s also kept his passion for cars fairly hidden until he appeared on the podcast and revealed his love of all things four-wheeled.
The 49-year-old, who is best known for his stand-up routines, has also presented reality television spin-offs such as I’m a Celebrity get me out of Here – Now for ITV2 and Channel 4’s Big Brother’s Big Mouth.
Russell Kane on the modern classics he’s bought
During his chat with the boys, Kane divulged his affection for modern classics from the eighties and the vehicles he’s purchased and would love to own.
“I love eighties (cars) and they’re called modern classics, I’d love a Cosworth, I’d love an XR3i in mint condition, I’d love a Capri, if the steering wasn’t so bad I probably would’ve got one of those,” Kane declared.
“But the BMW 5 Series, rather than an antique 3 Series, they just put those little executive touches on in the eighties. It’s 1986, but I’ve got electric windows, it’s got retrofitted air con. It took me six months to sort the parts with a mechanic that worked on it, it cost thousands.
“I had more money than sense as I’d just had a payout and it sits there (on his property) and I probably do about a thousand miles a year, maybe less, but I love it.”
