Accord Mortgages has become the latest lender to guarantee to complete cases submitted early next week ahead of stamp duty threshold changes at the end of the month.

The intermediary-only lender says these cases should be submitted by 25 March, ahead of the 1 April deadline.

It also urges brokers and solicitors to call the firm if they cannot meet this deadline but are “targeting a March completion”.

The lender anticipates an “extremely busy last week of March” and can “double capacity if needed” to complete loans.

On 1 April, the stamp duty rate threshold will fall to £125,000 from £250,000 for home movers, and to £300,000 from £425,000 for first-time buyers.

Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group — which includes Halifax and Bank of Scotland — have offered similar pledges this week.

Accord head of sales and distribution Chris Hill says: “We know our valued broker partners will be doing everything they can to help their clients avoid paying significantly more when the stamp duty thresholds change at the beginning of April.

“So, we’ve maximised resources across our highly-skilled customer support team to help them achieve that.”
