Social media star Michal Fidowicz, also known as Candy Showroom, is the latest guest on series 10 of the award-winning podcast Fuelling Around.
Fidowicz has built up a cult following on Instagram over a number of years and is fast becoming one of the most recognisable faces in the world of automotive video-journalism, having generated over 1.2 million views on his YouTube channel since launching three months ago.
The 26-year-old sat down with hosts Jason Plato and Dave Vitty to discuss his career so far, how he fell in love with cars and what he plans on doing next.
Michal Fidowicz on where his passion for cars started
During his chat with the boys, Fidowicz revealed where his love of all things four-wheeled stems from.
“My parents, I love them to bits, but they don’t know anything about cars. My dad ignores all my car advice, even though I think I know what I’m talking about by now,” Fidowicz joked.
“I used to play a lot of video games when I was younger and car games were just very easy to understand. And I enjoyed them. I enjoyed the imagery of them, I enjoyed the design.
“I like nice things in general, and I think a car is, as you know, it’s the second biggest purchase you make in your life. From an early age I understood that that was going to be a huge part of your life.
“I’m not really sure where it came from (his love of cars), but I know the feeling has been around for a long time, a lot longer than I’ve been driving.
“I used to really enjoy cycling on my bike when I was a kid. I used to love being on the move, being on the road and it all ties together.
“My first car was a (Volkswagen) Polo, but a really rotten one. It had no fifth gear because the gearbox blew up, absolute misery of a car.
“My first proper car, which I bought with my first proper paycheck, I bought myself a (BMW) 3 Series 318i. I was 19 at the time, that was the sexiest car you could own, it was so good. I took care of it and I actually modified it, putting flashier wheels on it.”
