Bilt and American Airlines to End Partnership in June

Update: We now have the exact date when this partnership is ending. The last day to transfer Bilt Rewards Points to American Airlines AAdvantage miles will be June 24, 2024.

Bilt Rewards and American AAdvantage will end their partnership in June of 2024. The news was first reported today by Gary at View from the Wing.

The end of the partnership means that means that you will no longer be able to transfer Bilt Rewards Points to American Airlines AAdvantage miles. There’s no exact date for now, but I would assume that it will be shared before the partnership ends.

Bilt has confirmed the news, telling VFTW:

“Bilt and American have agreed to wind down our partnership beginning in June. We appreciate everything we’ve been able to accomplish together since Bilt’s launch in 2021.”

Point transfers are initiated using the Bilt App. All transfers are at a ratio of 1:1 and will be nearly instant. There is a minimum point transfer of 2,000 Bilt Points for members who are Blue Status and a minimum point transfer of 1,000 Bilt Points for members who are Silver, Gold, or Platinum Bilt Status. All transfers must be done in 1,000 point increments.

Guru’s Wrap-up

Transferring Bilt Points to American Airlines was probably not the top choice for many Bilt Rewards members. Bilt has other valuable partners such as Hyatt, and airline programs such as United, Air Canada and Air France/KLM. For some of these programs we have also seen transfer bonuses of up to 150%.

But Bilt was the only transfer partner that would let you transfer points to American Airlines. The other major currencies don’t have American Airlines in their transfer partner list. So in that regard this is bad news.
